Brands We Stock: Hitachi, Jianzhi & Bothwell

Ajal Arabia stocks threaded fittings across the two main families:

  • Malleable iron threaded fittings — Hitachi and Jianzhi. Black and galvanized malleable iron fittings for low-pressure plumbing, water, and general service — elbows, tees, couplings, unions, nipples, plugs, and caps.
  • Forged steel threaded fittings — Bothwell. Forged steel threaded fittings to ASME B16.11 in Class 2000, 3000, and 6000 for high-pressure small-bore service, plus stainless steel threaded fittings (F304/F316) for corrosive and hygienic applications.

Malleable Iron vs Forged: Which to Use

  • Malleable iron (Hitachi, Jianzhi) — cast, then heat-treated; for low-pressure plumbing, drainage, and general water service. Economical, widely stocked, and entirely adequate for their duty range.
  • Forged steel (Bothwell) — forged from solid steel to ASME B16.11; for high-pressure, high-temperature, and critical services — steam condensate, compressed air, process utilities — where malleable iron is not permitted.
  • Stainless threaded (Bothwell) — for corrosive services, coastal plants, and chemical dosing lines where carbon steel or malleable iron would not survive.

The dividing line is the specification: Class 2000/3000/6000 or ASME B16.11 means forged; low-pressure water and plumbing means malleable iron. Never substitute one for the other without engineering approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between black and galvanized malleable iron fittings?

Black malleable iron fittings are uncoated — for closed systems and gas/air lines. Galvanized fittings carry a zinc coating for corrosion resistance — the standard for potable water and exposed plumbing. Match the fitting finish to the pipe finish on every run.

When do I need Class 3000 forged fittings instead of malleable iron?

When the service is high-pressure small-bore: steam condensate, compressed air, hydraulic lines, and process utilities. Malleable iron fittings are rated for low-pressure service only — if your line list calls out Class 2000/3000/6000 or ASME B16.11, you need forged fittings.

Can I mix NPT and BSPT threads?

No. NPT and BSPT have different thread forms and will not seal together reliably. Confirm which thread standard your project specifies and keep the whole threaded system on one standard. Always use thread sealant on male threads.
